Podcasting EquipmentWe gather every Saturday afternoon at around 4p Centeral time to record the show. We have two ways to record the show, On Location or at our "studio". First lets talk about how we record at the studio. All the audio is passed to a EDIROL M-100FX digital mixing board.
From there all audio is converted to digital and then is passed via USB to a Mac Mini
1.42Ghz, 1GB ram, 80GB HD, Super Drive We record the audio using a program called Audio Recorder then we edit it with Sound Stuido 2.2.4 then we compress the audio with mAC3dec then finally we produce the audio out as a podcast using Podcast Maker
M-AUDIO O2 25-Key Ultra-Thin Mobile USB MIDI Controller This is what we use at our studio for all of our sound effects with Garageband. Garageband is also what we use to make all of the intro and sounds for the show too. All Participants are required to have headphones & microphones:
Radio Shack 33-1221 Portable Stereo Headphones
Radio Shack 33-3037 XLR Unidirectional Dynamic Microphone These are our first mics and are now used as standby
Shure PG58 XLR Vocal Microphones - These are great microphones good sound low cost!
Radio Shack 33-373 Pop Screen. These will help improve the sound quaility by elminating the pop noises that are caused when talking into a microphone.
Peavey PV6 6 ch Mixer - We use this when we have more than 2 people on the show this gives us 4 more XLR jacks.
Marantz PMD-660 Portable Compact Flash Digital Recorder - This is what we use when we are out on the field for on location recording and at the studio as a backup recorder if the computer fails to record the show. We also use Lexar 1GB 4x Compact Flash Card with the Recorder. We are looking at getting a larger card later on.
Radio Shack 33-1222 Stereo Headphones with Titanium Diaphragms - These are great souning headphones and these are what we use on location with our Digital Recorder.
These are a must to get rid of all than noise that holding a mic makes. Also frees your hands to type on the puter. |
